Spring Oratorical Contest Winners Announced:
Tuesday night saw the LaFayette Optimist Club's annual oratorical competition take place, involving four amazing (and brave) participants:
First Place: Cambria Stanton
Second Place: Mandy Johnson
Third Place: Rory Cawley
Fourth Place: Xander Briggs
Participants were asked to answer the question: "What positive impact will your generation have on society and what role will you play?" Speaking on a topic that matters and is relevant to your lives doesn't make the task any easier when doing so in front of an audience, but they all rocked it!
If you see any of these participants in the hallways, please tell them congratulations!

Rock Festival & Bonfire to be held May 10:
The Matt Nastasi Memorial Scholarship Fund is proud to present the "LaFayette Rock Festival & Bonfire," to be held Friday, May 10 starting at 6 p.m. at the junior/senior high school.
In addition to live music, there will be food and raffles available as well. Attendees can make a $5 dollar donation to benefit the Matt Nastasi Scholarship Fund. Proceeds from the event will go toward the fund.

LCSD Art Show to be held May 9:
The LaFayette Central School District's Art Department is pleased to invite you to an art show, to be held on Thursday, May 9 from 6-8 p.m. in the junior/senior high school.
The exhibit will feature stunning works from these creative students, with submissions from pre-K all the way through to seniors. The exhibit will also feature a collaborative installation, as well as a special blacklight exhibit!
We hope you'll stop by and check out what these talented young artists have created!

'Alice @ Wonderland' Musical March 8 and 9:
The LaFayette Players are pleased to present the district’s spring musical “Alice @ Wonderland.” There will be two showings; Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9, both at 7 p.m. in the junior/senior high school auditorium.
What would happen if a 21st century Alice collided with Lewis Carroll’s legendary Wonderland? This modern retelling of the classic children’s story has all of the characters you know and love, including the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, and the Queen of Hearts. The story is laid out in traditional style, except that Alice is distinctly contemporary, complete with a cell phone in hand. Student Artwork Selected for Everson Display:
The LaFayette Central School district would like to extend its congratulations to high school students Kayla Tillinghast ("Northern Lights," Mixed Media) and Olivia Coppola ("Sunflower," Printmaking), both of whom recently had art pieces chosen for display at the Everson Museum of Art in a special Scholastic Art display! A total of 30 Scholastic Art pieces were chosen from all Silver Key and Honorable Mention award winners in the region. The Everson Exhibit will run from March 9 - April 7.
Kayla's and Olivia’s artwork being chosen for this special exhibit is a tremendous honor. Photos of their winning entries can be seen below (click to enlarge image).

LaFayette CSD to Host 'Hidden Mischief' Presentation March 19:
The LaFayette Central School District will host a presentation by the Prevention Network on March 19 from 5-6 p.m. in the junior/senior high school auditorium. Titled “Hidden Mischief,” this presentation aims to help adults identify some of the language and behavior that is often associated with drug use among the young people with whom we have contact.

2024 - 2025 LaFayette Pre-Kindergarten Registration:
Pre-K Registration open February 1, 2024 and closes May 31, 2024. Pre-Kindergarten selection will be conducted by a lottery the first week of July 2024. To attend pre-k your child must be four years old or four years old by December 1st of the school year.
Pre-Kindergarten selection will be conducted by a lottery, required by Section 3602-e of Education Law.
Registration needs to be completed by May 31, 2024 to be included in the lottery.
