ONS Book Fair by Sophia June 2010
The Book Fair took place during the Spring Dinner. Mrs. Fisher and Mrs. Sennett were there to help students find and select books to purchase. The Scholastic Company sold the books at 40% discount. This allowed the students to purchase and experience quality books at a lower price. Mrs. Ellsworth said, “I think the book fair is really good because it gets kids to read books and this gives a chance for families to buy books.”
One of the helpers, Mrs. Sennett was in charge of adding and telling kids their book price totals and discount. She said that being the math teacher makes it easier to work with the money and that she loves to read.
Mrs. Fisher had a contest for a bigger discount. Some students from each grade got caught reading and the librarian would take your picture. Then she drew a winner from k-3, 4-6 and 7-8. The winners were Dylan, Colyn, and Taylor. Congratulations to the three winners!

The Wonderful Story Teller
Allias H.
December 2009
As you all know we had a guest speaker on November 13, 2009 named Sunny Dooley. Sunny Dooley is a story teller from Navaho Arizona.
I think Sunny Dooley is a very nice person. She is also a very good story teller. When interviewed Sunny Dooley, I asked her what it is like being a story teller and she said that she likes it and it is very fun to tell story's. I also asked her many other questions, such as, what is her favorite story to tell? She does not have a favorite story to tell because she love's all of her stories. When asked who who inspired her to become a story teller she replied with, 'her mom and grandma helped guide her to this.' I also asked her about growing up in Arizona and she responded that it was similar to living on the nation we have here. As a child she liked to climb and play with goats. Sunny does not schedule story telling...she is always invited to the schools and she never mails out advertisements. She is very nice and we hope to have her back at ONS someday. |
Spelling B-e-e-s
December 2009
By: Sophia P
The girls felt nervous as they entered the Grimshaw Library. After the Bee both girls were relieved. Kyla placed second and Rhiannon placed first. They practiced by saying the word in their head first then saying it out loud. They entered this years bee because they had fun at last years spelling bee. The girls learned that they would be getting better and probably get 100's on their spelling tests. They enjoed this years spelling bee. They both had an awesome time and both agreed, they liked this year better than last year. C-O-N-G-R-A-T-U-L-A-T-I-O-N-S!
