Ancient Egypt

Onondaga Nation - The sixth grade ONS class recently wrapped up a unit on Ancient Egypt with a fun, hands on project.  They were presented in a variety of ways, including power points, posters, and diarammas.  Students were required to choose a topic covered in the unit and teach their fellow students what they learned.  A written report including a model of the topic was required for full credit.

“It was hard, but fun”, said Ivy.  “The project took a long time, but was worth it.  I learned that if it wasn’t for the Rosetta Stone, discovered in 1799, we wouldn’t be able to read or translate hieroglyphics.”

Harrison was quick to add, “The sun god Ra was considered the father of the gods.  He was usually shown with the body of a human and a head of a falcon.”

Overall, the students worked very hard on their projects while exploring new ways to learn.
