Pumkins!
November 3, 2011

Onondaga Nation - On Thursday October 27th the Kindergarten Puppies had an exciting morning investigating attributes of a pumpkin. After examing the outside, the class even studied the inside of the pumpkin.  The Kindergarten class learned that inside the pumpkin there are seeds inside as well as some pretty gross squishy "lines." The class discussed the many uses of a pumpkin and realized that the squash is used in and around all of our homes this time of year.

One of the uses we discussed was how to use the pumpkin in baking, Mrs. Thornton's favorite topic. After invesigating our pumpkin the Kindergarten class decided that the pumpkin should really be turned into pumpkin cookies for a yummy treat to eat.

The class mixed and measured, stired and poured until we had awesome pumpkin dough for our baking sheets. After dropping 3 dozen pumpkin cookies onto three baking sheets we traveled to the Home and Careers room for their final step before entering our belly...the oven.

It was difficult to wait the 10 minutes but we did out best, and enjoy our o'ji’tgwai•yoh niyohoñ so denh cookies.
