Update on School Closure - March 31, 2020 Update on School Closure - March 31, 2020: March 31, 2020 Dear Parents & Guardians, We received clarification following Governor Cuomo’s announcement on Friday extending our school closure through April 15, 2020.   Through inquiry with the Governor’s Office and the New York State Education Department, the Deputy Secretary for Education to Governor Cuomo, has advised that school districts are expected to provide continuity of learning (i.e., continued instruction) and distribution of meals during the closure through April 15, 2020, including during what was previously designated as our Board of Education approved Spring Break (April 6, 2020 to April 10, 2020) as outlined in the 2019-2020 school calendar. COVID 19 Update March 16, 2020 COVID 19 Update March 16, 2020: COVID 19 Update Monday March 16, 2020   Good Morning-    This is Jeremy Belfield, Superintendent of Schools for LaFayette Central School District.   Today is Monday March 16, 2020. This morning at 10:00 AM, Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon announced that all schools in Onondaga County will be closed effective 4:00 PM today through at least April 13, 2020.   Our schools will be dismissing today during our scheduled early dismissal on Mondays (ie 1:45 Grimshaw/ONS and 2:00 Jr/Sr High School and Big Picture).   During the time that school is closed, students should not report to school. Coronavirus Update March 15, 2020 Coronavirus Update March 15, 2020: March 15, 2020 Dear Parents & Guardians, The LaFayette Central School District continues to monitor and respond to the rapidly evolving developments in the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).  We are working under the guidance and direction of the New York State Department of Health, the Onondaga County Health Department, the New York State Education Department, and the Onondaga County Executive’s orders to ensure the health and safety of all of our children, staff, parents and visitors to the LaFayette Central School District. As per the order of the County Executive, students will be out of school beginning Monday, March 23, 2020. 3/14/2020 State of Emergency Onondaga County 3/14/2020 State of Emergency Onondaga County: March 14, 2020   Dear LaFayette School Community:   The Onondaga County Superintendents met with County Executive Ryan McMahon earlier today to discuss COVID-19 and the potential impact on schools.   By now, you are likely all aware of the County Executive’s announcement of a State of Emergency in Onondaga County.   As per the order of the County Executive, students will be out of school beginning Monday March 23, 2020.  Students are scheduled to return on Tuesday, April 14th.   The district plans to share more information tomorrow regarding this announcement.  As we prepare for continuity of instruction for all of our students we anticipate using next week to solidify plans to meet the needs of our students.  ...
LaFayette Community Council Cancellation LaFayette Community Council Cancellation: LaFayette CSD received the following notification from LaFayette Community Council and was asked to assist in notifying families: All LaFayette Community Council Programs, including girls volleyball, second, third and fourth grades basketball, and registrations for baseball and lacrosse, are cancelled until further notice.   Thank you.
Event Cancellation - March 13, 2020 - Senior Basketball Game Cancelled Event Cancellation - March 13, 2020 - Senior Basketball Game Cancelled: Event Cancelled - Senior Basketball Game Cancelled March 13, 2020   In light of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s announcement that New York state is banning all gatherings of more than 500 people, the LaFayette Central School District has decided to postpone the senior basketball game scheduled for Friday March 13, 2020 at 5:00 PM at LaFayette High School. Once we have determined a date to reschedule the game, we will communicate this information with all of our stakeholders.   The ban on large gatherings instituted by Governor Cuomo does not apply to regular school instruction.   At this time, there are no suspected or confirmed cases of coronavirus in the school district or Onondaga County.
