The LaFayette Athletic Booster Club invites the community to attend the “Stix it to Cancer” event at the LaFayette High School on Saturday, May 14, where the school will play host to the “Crossroads Cup.” This full-day event will be home to a variety of athletic contests, including a varsity baseball double-header, and both a girls’ and boys’ lacrosse matchup!

Community Action: How To Help ONS Receive Critical Funding Community Action: How To Help ONS Receive Critical Funding: The Neighbors of Onondaga Nation (NOON) are asking for the community’s help in contacting four key leaders in the New York State legislature to push for increased funding for each of the three Indigenous Schools on Indigenous Territories, as requested by the Superintendents of these districts. Hundreds of people across New York State have already joined the effort to significantly increase funding to these three schools that have been significantly underfunded for decades. As a result of these efforts, Governor Hochul included $35.7 million for the St. Regis Mohawk School ($17.8 million), the Tuscarora School ($11.8 million), and the Onondaga School ($6.1 million) in her Executive Budget. Governor Kathy Hochul announced this afternoon that the state-wide mask requirement will be lifted for students and staff starting on Wednesday March 2nd. School Buildings Closed Friday 2/25/22 School Buildings Closed Friday 2/25/22: Good Evening,  Based on the forecasted weather conditions for Friday 2/25/22, all school buildings will be closed. There will be no rehearsal for the musical and LASP will not be operating tomorrow.  12 month staff (clerical, custodial/maintenance, supervisors, administrators) are not required to report on this “snow day”.  Since schools are not in session, this “snow day” will not count as one of our six emergency closing days.  Please play it safe, stay home, and watch the snow fall.  Have a safe evening. Board of Education Nominating Petitions Available Board of Education Nominating Petitions Available: On May 17th, LaFayette Central School District voters will choose two district residents to serve on the Board of Education.   Candidates may be nominated only by petition and must collect at least 25 signatures from qualified school district voters to be placed on the ballot. Petitions, which are available now, must be filed by 4:00 p.m. April 18th with the District Clerk, LaFayette Central School District Office, 5955 US Route 20, LaFayette, NY 13084. LaFayette Educator Receives National Certification LaFayette Educator Receives National Certification: Congratulations go out to LaFayette Junior/Senior High School Science Teacher David Amidon, who recently earned the distinction of becoming a National Board Certified Teacher! Teachers who achieve National Board Certification have met rigorous standards through intensive study, expert evaluation, self-assessment, and peer review. Mr. Amidon’s most recent achievement is just one of many in his 20 years as an educator. In that time, he has also taught high school classes, and has served as both a coach and advisor for many of the programs in LaFayette. Before becoming board certified, Mr. Amidon had been selected for the inaugural cohort of the New York State Master Teacher Program.
