Onondaga Nation- The Onondaga Nation school joined indigineous people across the land to celebrate "Rock Your Moccs" day. This day gave students and staff a chance to show something that means a lot to them and to share it with others. Many of us have moccasins that are handed down from family members and others said that theirs was made especially for them.
Mr. Powless, Culture teacher at ONS stated, "I love wearing these particular moccasins because they were the ones that I was married in 20 years ago."
Others agreed that it was an enjoyable event. "My feet were so comfortable and cozy all day," a happy student remarked.
This day was made even more popular due to social media sites like Facebook. Many people from various native nations posted pictures of themselves wearing their moccasins during the day. It was great to be part of such a positive and wide spread event.
