COVID Testing Clinic Results from Monday 5/3
Grimshaw Elementary, LaFayette Jr/Sr High School, and LaFayette Big Picture School hosted an asymptomatic testing clinic for students and staff members this morning. Thank you to our awesome school nurses Ms. Brown, Ms. Dumond, and Ms. Gates for conducting the testing and thank you to our partners at Onondaga County for assisting with coordinating the testing clinic. Here are the results:
Grimshaw: 25 tested, 0 positive
LaFayette Jr/Sr High School and Big Picture School: 12 tested, 0 positive
Total: 37 tested, 0 positive

Broadband Survey Seeks to Identify Service Gaps in CNY:
The Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board has partnered with Onondaga County and ECC Technologies, LLC to undertake a community survey that will be used to help prepare a plan to improve broadband internet access for communities in Onondaga County and across Central New York. The Covid-19 pandemic has shown us that reliable access to broadband internet is a vital resource for any community in the 21st Century. From education, health care, jobs, and agriculture, our future relies on reliable access to internet.

Athletics Update - Spring Sports

Dear Families:
Spring is finally here! We are excited to announce the return of spring sports at LaFayette CSD. Practices started last week and we have our first competitions starting this week.
Due to the pandemic, there are a number of safety precautions that our student athletes, coaches, game personnel and spectators will need to follow:
Wearing a face mask, practicing social distancing, staying home when you are sick
Spectators are limited to no more than two per student athlete. Tickets will be given to each student athlete to distribute to the two lucky guests.

Friday May 28, 2021- No School
There will be no school on Friday May 28, 2021 as part of our snow day give back day which is outlined in our approved instructional calendar for the 2020-2021 school year.
All schools will be closed on Friday May 28, 2021.
Also, there will be no school on Monday May 31, 2021 in observance of Memorial Day.

Onondaga County has closed the symptomatic testing clinic site at the CNY Regional Market.
Symptomatic testing is still available.
Symptomatic/Exposure Testing (Including for K-12 Schools)
Testing is available through Upstate Medical University ( https://www.upstate.edu/coronavirus/testing/schedule.php ) and the Syracuse Community Health Center ( https://www.schcny.com/?page_id=1497 ) for Onondaga County residents who are symptomatic or have had direct exposure to a positive case.

COVID Vaccine Clinic April 21, 2021:

Dear Families and Staff Members:
The LaFayette Central School District is partnering with Onondaga County to offer an on-site vaccination clinic on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at LaFayette CSD Junior & Senior High School. This clinic will also include high school students from the Tully, Fabius-Pompey, and Onondaga Central School Districts. Students from other districts participating in the clinic will be bussed to LaFayette CSD by their home district. Appointments are available for eligible students (ages 16 and up) for the Pfizer vaccine.
Vaccinations are also open for staff members and eligible family members in our district who would like to reserve an appointment.

Here are a few important updates:
Update on Positive Cases
The district was recently informed of two positive COVID cases in our school:
Two students at the Jr/Sr High recently tested positive for COVID-19. All close contacts and individuals recommended for quarantine have been contacted by the district.
We wish these individuals a quick recovery. The district has been in communication with the Onondaga County Health Department regarding these cases. Please continue to monitor your children for symptoms of COVID and be sure to contact your health care provider as soon as symptoms occur.

Board Petitions Now Available:
On May 18th, LaFayette Central School District voters will choose three district residents to serve on the Board of Education.
Candidates may be nominated only by petition and must collect at least 25 signatures from qualified school district voters to be placed on the ballot. Petitions, which are available now, must be filed by 4 p.m. April 19th with the District Clerk, LaFayette Central School District Office, 5955 US Route 20, LaFayette, NY 13084.
